PD Dr. Nadja Gernalzick, Univ.-Prof. a.D.

Nadja Gernalzick, Univ.-Prof. a.D., is independent researcher of comparative literary, cultural, and media studies. She teaches as a member of the Adjunct Faculty at the Obama Institute for Transnational American Studies at the University of Mainz and is Senior Research Fellow at the Faculty of Philological and Cultural Studies at the University of Vienna. She studied at the universities of Mainz, San Jose in California, and at Columbia University, New York, received an M.A. in General and Comparative Literature and Ph.D. and habilitation in American Literature and Culture from the University of Mainz, and has held professorial and lecturing positions at universities in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and Canada since 1998. She is founding member of Kulturwissenschaftliche Gesellschaft (KWG). Her publications include Kredit und Kultur (2020), Temporality in American Filmic Autobiography (2018), contributions to international journals or to the collection The Global South and Literature (2018). She co-edited Transmediality and Transculturality (2013) and The Mediality of Sugar (Brill, June 2022).
